Cities in Hillsborough County FL
Riverview sits on the banks of the Alafia River only twenty minutes southeast from downtown Tampa. The name of the river means “River of Fire” because the original indigenous people saw the glow of the natural deposits of phosphorous in the bottom of the river. The majority of the deposits have long since washed away and the mines which produce almost a 25% of the world’s phosphate needs are still going strong further to the east.
Modern Riverview is a small city, but without the heavy urbanization of many places. That and the river’s direct access to Tampa Bay and from there the Gulf shores makes the city a smart place to set up a boat and do some serious fishing. By serious, we mean seriously thinking about doing something about the fact your line is in the water without a hook or bait and you are sitting in the boat drinking beer. You craft old ape. You’re not fooling us and we won’t tell as long as you save us one. Do you have something to add about this City?
